Frequently Asked Questions

Who or what is RBCPC?

RBCPC is short for Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church. You can learn more about our church at the website, but the best way to get to know us might be through a visit.  Please join us!

Your committee has been meeting for some time now, is there a reason why we have heard so little about what you are doing?

There are probably many reasons. As a committee, we are working hard to capture our conversations and communicate our proceedings via our website. We have been requesting and making presentations to Team Leaders, Session, the Deacons, the Stephen Ministers, and the like, but it takes time to get around to the many wonderful groups at our church.

Perhaps the biggest reason rests in the fact that we are still learning the depth and the complexities of the challenge before the committee. If the task had been merely to find worthwhile projects to spend money on, that would have been a relatively simple task. But included in our mission is mobilizing ourselves as disciples of Jesus to bless the community through our own transformed lives. This takes a little longer.

It is nice to see and hear about how some of the Cascade funding is being spent, doesn’t this suggest that you already know what you are doing and what you will fund?

We know enough that we’d like to bless the community through the god-given gifts, burdens and passions of people from the RBCPC midst. We have chosen a few test cases to set into motion, largely to learn from as we walk alongside these wonderful initiatives. We are blogging what we are learning here at the website in an effort to share our learning to our church community and others that are learning from our learning.

As we continue to hear people share their vision of how they might follow the Lord “on mission” in our community, we are consistently surprised. We continue to marvel at how many people come to our committee to share their visions and leave encouraged merely by hearing an affirmation of their direction and calling. We didn’t anticipate that the most appreciated “support” from our committee was a kind word. Fortunately, this particular asset doesn’t requiring budgeting.
